Halloween!!

This is Halloween, this is Halloween!

One of my favourite excuses to get crafty! Me and my little sister hosted a Halloween party on Wednesday, and we had so much fun getting ready for it!

I made meringue ghosts taken from the Tesco website (allot harder than they looked!)

The bats were made from foam and whipped up in about 5 minutes, but looked quite effecting hanging from my ceiling.

I organised a pumpkin carving competition, the guest were put in teams and given 7 minutes. Everyone was really chuffed with the outcome, its amazing how well people work when there's chocolate prizes at steak!!
Anyone guess which pumpkin won??

My red hanging spiders! whipped up in even less time then the bats, around 30 seconds but I was so pleased with them!

Finally green jelly with chocolate eyeballs, And jack o orange lanterns, made from hollowing out the oranges and carving faces in them, then filling them with green and orange jelly, they went down very well.

Thanks for visiting and reading!

My wedding bouquet

So here it is!!

My wedding bouquet!

its taken me about 3 months to do. Obviously the daffodils are all knitted, and in the trumpets are, some with jewel flower pins. and some have 3 pronged pearl heads that i broke off of something else and used wire to tie them together and place them in the centre of the trumpets.

Did you spot the bumble bees?!
I also placed little white butterflies in several places over the bouquet. And used a length of yellow ribbon and weaved it in and out between the flowers.

I wanted the shape of my bouquet to resemble a shower bouquet, so i bought some fake ivy and other fake greenery from the wonderful Taverham Garden Centre. I was able to use these to help me mould the shape of the bouquet into exactly what i wanted. I also used some other sprigs with pretty jewels on them.

Im pretty proud of the finished article. I had attempted a few different things before deciding to stick with the original idea of knitting the daffodils.

So id love to hear what everyone thinks of it!!

Thanks for looking x

Wedding Bits!

My mum once told me that my nanny's dad (A florist and organist) used to hand make little bumble bee's to go on his bouquets. sadly the few that my nanny kept have been lost and damaged through the years.) But the idea of having them on my wedding bouquet was defiantly something I wanted!

As you know for months and months i have been knitting daffodils for this wedding bouquet, and having searched and searched for something that would resemble these bumble bee's of my great granddads and finding nothing at all! I decided to make what i had in mind myself.

So here they are!

little yellow pom poms with black thread and a smaller black pom pom make the body. The wings were harder. I used tiny bits of bendy wire stuff that i found up (id obviously kept them off of something thinking they would come in handy one day!) made them into a circle and used a mesh fabric for the wings, then curled the wire for the antenna, and of course googly eyes to finish.

The bouquet is actually nearly finished, so look out for my bee's when i post the final picture!

jar of love

The daffodil and bee happy broach!! love love them!

Jar of love swap

This is my jar from the brilliant suzzanebramble@blogspot.com. This was my first swap and I am chuffed to bits with it!!
Suzanne was so thoughtful with filling my jar and got me perfectly with what she put in,
as she could see from my page im getting married and love my daffodils so she themed my jar on hearts and love.

Everything was presented so brilliantly on lovely paper, even the ribbon was wrapped in the matching paper.
My absolute favourite items in my jar was the daffodil pin and bee happy broach. I love them to bits! and cant thank suzanne enough! Thankyou to katie as-well for hosting a brilliant swap.

My jar did not have a theme im afraid, it was a mixture of everything i could think of.
I put things in I thought suzanne would like such as gardening things and additions to her sewing box, I also put in a cross stitch pattern and some thread to get her started! The pattern was of a dog and cat bowl, as Suzanne has a cat and two doggys, with this in mind i also put in a cat rubber and cat earings and 2 dog treats, hope yours doggys enjoy them!

These are my wedding shoes! They were not my first choice as i fell in love with an amazing pair, but sadly they were just too far out of my price range! I found this lovely pair on ebay but felt perhaps i could turn them into my dream pair,

Ta da, i bought the lace and tiny beads super cheap! The lace is actualy the same colour as the shoes although the picture shows it differently , Yellow is the colour theme of the wedding hense the yellow beads.

I was clearing out my wardrobe and came across this halloween outfit i made last year! (im the 1 on the left)
my sister had bought her dress from a charity shop again someone had obviously handmade it. We wanted to go as twins so i tried to copy the design and was really chuffed with the outcome.
I literally made the dress out of two cushion covers a double bed bottom sheet and a net cutrain!!

The back of the dress was my own added extra, as i had made the dress around my own measurements that i was taking (and im no dress maker!) i had made the dress to small at the back and so decided to do the corset back. I had some left over ribbon and added hoops all the way down the back and threaded the ribbon through, and it worked very well.

These red white and blue bags were given to our guests as a party favour! they contained hand made chocolates that with the help of food colouring had been made in red white and blue! simply brilliant!
Other bits at our party, including jelly! I made red jelly with wipped cream and blueberrys to give our fabulous red white and blue colours.

For the gingerbread i used stamps to get an image on the biscuit and then used iceing to decorate them.
For her majestys jubilee!!
we had a brilliant street party, loads of food and we all sang god save our queen countless times over!

My contribution to the tables was a mixture of cup cakes bannana bread, cheese scones, and gingerbread,

wedding stuff!

These daffodils are a crochet pattern my friend Katie help me learn having only very recently taken up the art that is crochet, the idea is to make my wedding bouquet with them. I will let you no how it turns out!

gingerbread house

This was a very hard creation!! I was still finishing it off at 2am Christmas morning!
It is a great gingerbread recipe my best friend Katie taught me, the roof is icing and choc buttons and sprinkles. Very fiddly!!

Christmas cake

I made this cake Christmas eve after having spent weeks cross stitching the ribbon to go around it!
The cake is a rich fruit cake with marzipan and royal icing.

cakes!

This is my most recent cake. A 1st birthday cake for a little girl, and i was asked to make it from someone who had recommended me!! So very exciting. The lady asked for royal icing
sponge cake with teddy bears and balloons to decorate it. I used a sugar paste to design the teddy's and balloons and got really creative with the 3D teddy bear.
